Complete any other site content, designs, or calls to action that you want

By now you should have a cusomized site with content, widgets, and know your way around fairly well. But before you close your laptop and head to the beach, let’s make sure we tie up all of the common loose ends:

  1. Permalinks
Make sure you click into Settings > Permalinks and configure your links from the standard WordPress ?post=number to something more search friendly and less visually awkward. (Note, if you’re a LoadedWordPress user, these should be configured for you by default, but doesn’t hurt to check).
  2. Search Engines
If ‘Search Engines Blocked’ is showing at the top of your admin dashboard, do yourself a favor and click it, then select the radio button that says ‘I would like my blog to be visible to everyone, including search engines (like Google, Bing, Technorati) and archivers.’ You may also find this setting in Settings > Privacy.
  3. Calls to Action
If you’re in the business of being in business, make sure you let people know how to find you. This may be accomplished in a number of ways, including a nice big glowing button that says ‘Contact Me’ with a link to your contact page, newsletter, or similar.
  4. Design
Don’t forget that LoadedWordPress is highly customizable. With that said, make sure your site matches your personality, or the feel of your business.

If you need a hand, we can help with any of the hard stuff. Just give us a shout and we’ll help figure it out.

Step 7 – Search Engine Optimization

Wednesday, June 30th, 2010

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the volume or quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via “natural” or un-paid (“organic” or “algorithmic”) search results as opposed to search engine marketing (SEM) which deals with paid inclusion. …

Seems pretty simple, however for years many Web professionals and marketers have used varying SEO tactics to achieve differing degrees of increased site traffic… at a premium price. As important as Search Engine Optimization is for how search engines view your site, there is no substitute for content, which is why your Website and your Blog are such powerful tools to get your content found.

By nature, both a website and a blog are meant to have dynamic and relevant content. To help this content be found by search engines and increase unpaid views, LoadedWordPress comes with many intuitive tools to combine the organic nature of your blog content with Search Engine Optimization. You can configure key elements such as Site Title and meta tags, as well as Page and Post tags from an easy admin screen located in Social Media > Search Engine Optimization.

Also, as you write new posts and pages, you’re able to see and configure Keyword Statistics, showing you information about how the search engines and other online directories will “see” your content. This includes your keyword density, size of content, and other details that can help you refine your content to achieve the biggest impact possible for your website traffic.

In addition, Loaded WordPress has many automated tools to help your site get found and rank well. Any images that you add to your articles or pages will automatically have “alt” tags created based on your content, enforcing your message and keywords. Your page URLs play an important role in your SEO results as well, and LoadedPress comes with automatically generated page URLs that you can easily manage and refine to maximize the focus of your content.

Whether you are a hardcore marketer and want to get every detail exactly as you want it, or if you are not a SEO guru and just want your site to be found, LoadedPress has the tools you need. You can manage it as much or as little as you like, but the LoadedPress system will help your website and blog be relevant and get real results.
